Mum had to get the kids off to kids club with some reluctance on the boys part as all they want to do is play in the pool.
Also I had to do some quick running around as also had to sign in for the snorkelling at the same time.
I had thought that the snorkeling was of the main beach with a little boat trip of the main beach at Kata but no we had to
get a bus to Chalong Harbour a 40 minute boat trip to an island and then have 40mins snorkelling and should be
back by 12.30 just in time for lunch.
The bus was air conditioned in the traditional style open windows and ceiling fans.
The boat was also a simple bench seats on each side which sat quite high in the water and due to the weather getting at
bit wind a fairly large swell was getting the boat rocking and rolling and the advice was to sit down.
We got to the island and its nice little sheltered beach and immediately departed to the water to get as much time looking
down.
Life jackets and being 8 yrs or older are compulsary, the life jackets make things easy but impossible to dive down however
there is no need to as the coral was generally 1.8 to 3m deep and the water warm and clear.
Immediately upon entering the water you are surrounded by fairly small fish similar to a sargeant major fish yellow with
black stripes.
There are plenty or these all eager to have a closer look.
There are quite a few other fish but dont know the name, various star fish and sea stars along with the occasional cucumber
most of the coral is hard with only a few that are more plant like. All in all well worth the boat trip.
Nearly forgot plenty of small stinging jelly fish the effect is less than and english stinging nettle and nothing like a good old Aussie stinger leaving scars for life.
Lunch Taco's and chips and some kind of dessert that I cant remember!
We decide to take a walk out side the resort in order to walk off lunch and get a local massage. There is a street of
massage parlours just opposite the resort main entrance. We ended up at the furthest one away as we turned around when the
road started to go up a reasonably steep hill and didin't really feel up to it.
The high humidity is the killer it is only about 31'c and as you get away from the beach the breeze disappears and need the air conditioned comfort of the parlour.
Prices start from 300 baht for a Thai Massage and most are 400 baht for 1 hr
A pedicure is 200 Baht. We finally leave after about and 1 1/2 hours and head back to the bar and await signing out for the kids a bit early as they want more pool time so much for walking lunch off.
2 quick cocktails later and we have resorted to taking pictures of ourselves.
Went to catch up with the kids and found them doing the water slide.
