Kuala Lumpur Lcct Low Cost Carrier Terminal
Having found little or poor information on Kuala Lumpur LCCT I have compiled these notes
Having transited through only and not entering Malaysia this information is only any good for passengers that have gone thru customs etc.
Upon discussing changing to non low cost carriers at the main terminal this can be a challenge against the clock as a late arrival leaves little time to reclaim baggage get thru customs get the bus which is a 20 minute trip around the airport check in get thru customs.
Some recommend 3hrs between scheduled arrival and departure time.
I believe this terminal is the original with a coat of paint and a change of layout and not new as described in other information or websites. There are no walk ways or bridges to the aircraft and boarding and landing from aircraft requires a short walk out in the open.
If lucky and you are flying on a smaller aircraft such as an Airbus A320 there are some covered walk ways. If you are on a larger aircraft such as an Airbus A330 good luck with the weather as their parking area has no covered walkways and it started to rain with about 150 people cueing to get up the steps.
If transiting be aware of the small doorway as you enter the building and don't go upstairs to the main arrival hall following the herd.
I don't know what will happen if you are transiting to another airline that is not Air Asia as these are the only desks in this area.
There is another security check to pass into the lounge requiring the disposal of liquids and gels etc. Again.
Purchasing water and other drinks to take on board in the terminal requires the seller to seal in a bag other wise you are required to dispose of them again.
The main waiting lounge is not luxurious but can be comfortable.
There are few eateries including Dunkin Donuts being the only international chain I can remember.
There is Uncle D's Noodle Corner which we tried and were very disappointed with the micro wave food.
There is an out let called Wrap and Roll which appears to be the best as the food appears to cooked fresh in front of you. There are 2 or 3 other cafe style places doing drinks and cakes etc and some warm food such as sausage rolls and Curry Puffs.
There are the usual duty free shops selling perfume and alcohol etc including possible the worlds smallest Body Shop
There are two toilets a smaller one on the upper floor and a larger on on the main lower floor.
Upon closer inspection the gents has a shower which is free but is not mentioned on the entrance door.
Security between Customs and X-ray machines on the upper floor appears to have big hole in it.
There is a glass screen wall only 2 meters high around a lounge which items could be easily thrown over!
The terminal has free WIFI if you can get a connection it was good on our outward journey and unconnectable on our return.
There is a recharge station which appears to only have UK style 3 pin outlets but there are many ad hock connections going on.
If you want to find a bit of peace and quite good luck the terminals announcement systems is turned up to 11 rattling the tin roof and distorting anything being said and making it hard to understand in any language.
