Day 11 Off to Market

Off to Phuket Town Night Market

My last visit to the dentist this morning. Have probably spent more time reclined in the chair than lying on a beach.

The weather has turned back to showers and then rain, more rain and then heavy rain.

The wet weather gear goes back on we head across the road for lunch and then a walk to catch the bus to Phuket Town. This is a truck like bus only about $1.30 for the 45 min trip and 10 min walk to the Market. We arrive at the market just before 4pm as the rain gets heavier a trip to the toilet for every one then a sit down and drink as many stalls are not quite open.

5 hours later, various snacks including crispy pork, chicken kebab, sushi, fried chicken and cake

We get a taxi back to the hotel for our latest night out.

Day 10 Just around the POOL.

Can't think of what we did apart from going for a walk around the block, getting the kids a snack and ice cream and Mum and Dad having lunch alone at the food stall right across the road from the Hotel.
Nice food very cheap price.

In the evening we head off for our anniversary dinner to Palm Square and the Mali Chic restaurant.

Mum has a cocktail and myself a beer.

Mum has Sea Bass and says it is great I have a Pork Chop it's good.
Em has Sushi and Harry has Carbonarra. Will has no appetite.

Williams appetite suddenly returns.

He didn't eat it all.

Day 9 Kata Noi Beach

This is located just South of the Main Beach Beach over the headland. It is probably only 1/3 the Size of the Main Beach but has to be the nicest and cleanest Beach in Phuket.

Williams day to be ill today and spends most of the day throwing up and sleeping in the shade.

The wind has picked up over night and left the surf a bit crashy and bashy and officially only red flags. The lifeguards were there and kept an eye out for the Korean / Chinese poor swimmers that can not read the signs about do not swim in the rip you might die.

We notice there are very few beach sellers.

Harry and I set off in search of a snack and end up with a bag of mixed fruit.

William has a piggy back part of the way with a few stops to add to his little carrier bag.

Rest time back at the hotel again.

We head up to the roof top in the hope of a sunset but the cloud defeats us and we just take some dusk shots of the view.

The evening was spent at Natalies Restaurant which was good for the kids as they bought out some Connect 4, Jenga and the Pool table was free.

Nice surprise when we got back to our room.

Day8 Dino Golf

I have another appointment at the dentist and we all catch the local bus and part way the kids get off and have round at the Crazy Golf.

We all meet back at the hotel and again laze around the pool for the afternoon.

Dinner is close by as people are starting to be very tired and not very hungry. The Outdoor Restaurant barely 100m from the hotel is good enough. 

Mum Gets Her Chance to have a Dish served She has seen quite a Lot, which Pineapple Rice Turns out to be a bit like a Mild Biryani.

Day 7 Kata Main Beach and Pig and Whistle

As we had planned we headed down to the main beach and the northern end close to the rocks in the hope of some reasonable snorkeling opportunities.

The tide was out and the water warm. The snorkeling was as good if not better than Coral Island.
There were not as many big fish but plenty of smaller ones and with the tide out I was much closer to the coral. I say I as I was the only one who went snorkeling and should have bought the dive camera along.
The rest frolicked in the waves.

After an hour or so we have to move up the beach and find some shade.

 and then lunch from the "food court".

Potato twists for a $ or so and fruit shakes and I had a pork sausage on a stick.

Back to the hotel and a rest.

The evenings search for a Restaurant that is not "Same Same" sends us to the Pig and Whistle where eyes are bigger than bellies and large roasts are ordered by the family and I have a pint and.

Day 6 Lazy day at the hotel

Lazy Day at the Hotel

A lazy day for some whilst I had the morning having a root canal done in Phuket Town.

We met up at lunch time and we headed down to town for a hawker stall lunch that we had seen the night before which was doing some good trade but it was closed and we then found another and bought a selection of chicken sticks, prawn sticks and. Papaya salad and headed for the beach foreshore wall for sit down lunch. The chicken was quite nice and so were the prawns which were not prawns but more like crab sticks. The papaya salad was ok but I reckon I have made better my self.

We wandered down the beach to the northern end and find a hawker stall food court set up. Which we have in mind to use the following day and possibly do some snorkeling around the rocks.

Day 5 Day Trip to Raya and Coral Islands

Day Trip to Raya and Coral Islands

 Up early for breakfast as being picked up at 8:30 for our speed boat trip to Raya Island and then onto Coral Islands.

The speed boat is reasonably bumpy and too loud for any conversation.

All went snorkeling and then escorted off for lunch at the Raya Father Resort.

A mix of dishes  seafood soup very nice and fried fish, omelette rice, chicken and veg.

We then have an hour or so before the boat leaves for Coral Island.

The last visit to Coral Island seemed like we were the only group there. This time was totally different. The beach was quite crowded  in parts and the boat crew didn't seem interested in allowing us to have a snorkel again which is what we were therefore. Finally got the snorkel and masks but were probably from the broken box, most leaked and one set had the glass missing. We weren't at the best bit of beach for snorkeling  so was a bit of a waste of time.

Back on the boat and about 15 mins of  bounce and we were back at Chalong Bay.

Back to the hotel and change and bit of a rest we headed back into the main section of  Kata and found the Malila restaurant lost of restaurants close by all competing with 20% discount on food and with free salad bar and soup. We had a mix of lovely honey pork ribs  spicey stir fried pork and the girls had Bolognese and Carbonara.

Day 4 Kata

Not expecting to do too much today.
Kids slept in today until Harry had to get up and now has a dodgy tum. See yesterday restaurant post.

Breakfast is much better than expected plenty of choice hot and cold so had fry up and toast, danish yoghurt, juice, coffee  and some pancakes and that that was just for me.

Now lazing around the pool blogging.

Later in the afternoon we headed down to Kata beach for the first time only a five minute walk.

The beach was busier than expected and the water OK but we headed for the flags. Harry still not too well doesn't swim and has a sleep under the trees on the lilo. The sun is very hazy and very sticky and we don't stay long and grab a water ice on the way back to the Hotel pool for some shade.

Headed off in the evening to find the #1 restaurant in Kata on Trip Advisor.

Day 3 Transfer day to Kata

Wake up Early we again. The Kids are messing Around Awake next door.

The weather is not as clear as yesterday low hazy cloud and a few spots of rain.

After breakfast we headed down to the beach and saw some volunteers headed by an expat starting to get ready for a much needed beach clean up. The sea is calmer but not calm enough for mum. The life guard is on the ball trying to keep everyone between the flags. We were on the beach until 11 am then returned to the room for a quick hose down and checkout. All in another minibus and an hour trip down to the Chanalai Flora Resort in Kata.

Good news on arrival we have been upgraded to the superior deluxe rooms or something like that.
Rooms are interconnecting best rooms in the Hotel.

The kids get a quick dip in the pool and off to get some lunch and the a Tuk Tuk ride to the

prearranged Dentist in Karon for Mum and Dad.

2 and 1/2 hrs later Dad is done and more visits to arrange.

Mum and kids have visited the hairdressers its dark again and a walk too far for for them results in a bit of a dodgy restaurant and comments from mum don't go in the toilets and hope the kitchen isn't like that. This was all after eating.

Day 2 A Day Trip into Patong

We decided over Night that we would Head to Patong for Some Wet Weather activities and meant About an hour in a Taxi for 1000B. The Kids woke up Early before 6 am and Will fell asleep in the Taxi and Harry would have been out as well if. . He Found reclined his seat.

The weather was a bit better with slightly brighter cloud and bits of blue and rain showers rather than constant.

We got dropped off at Jung Ceylon Shopping Centre and had a bit of a wander and then Found a 7-11 near by for the Kids to Get Some Milk and flavored coffees Two. Its was still a bit Early and many stalls were only getting Started. . .
Very soon we found ourselves on the beach and quite a few tourist probably getting out for the first time in a couple of days.

We wandered about with the kids complaining its too hot and sweaty and sore feet from their thongs.

We headed to find the market area but found that it had mostly disappeared into a building site and found the fresh food market and decided to have lunch.

The Area was quite Busy upstairs in the Food Court Seafood You buy You take it upstairs and down etc we Stairs for Cooking. We did not buy anything but to take up a few dishes that we could Get Found cooked upstairs.

Headed Back Into Shopping and Lunch after more Jung Ceylon and Robinsons dept Store to Check on prices. Then as Promised Some Bowling Ten pin and a Coffee.

Shopping and Looking more then just selling and selling and Same Same anyway and had Crepes Some Headed to the Beach. That did not last long and a Black Cloud and Thunder Headed our Way. W E Quickly Headed for a Little Shelter in Stall Area where we. ended up for Staying About 45mins.

It was now getting dark and other plans did not work out so we got the nearest Tuk Tuk to head back to Nai Thon.
